Degree in Philosophical Sciences at the University of Bari "Aldo Moro" and member of the National Research and Practice Team of Filosofia Coi Bambini, conceived by Carlo Maria Cirino Ph. D. After completing the practical training between Francavilla Fontana, Pesaro and Istanbul, at the "Marco Polo", located inside the Consulate General of Italy, working in the north of Bari schools. Volunteer at the Opera SS Foundation. Cosma and Damiano Bitonto non-profit organization, part of the support post-school children at risk of marginalization, in order to encourage their social inclusion.
What is it about?
The primary need that the “filosofiacoibambini” method meets is about the upgrading of cross cognitive abilities: language, expressive skills, ability to form concepts, attention, analysis and synthesis, reasoning, problem solving, logic, moral judgment, empathic and decision-making abilities, managing emotions, listening, reflection.
We’re persuaded that more words children acquire, more possibilities they’ll have to name the outer and inner reality, to understand it, to move into it and to create possible worlds, imagining new alternatives to be implemented.
Therefore our aims is to encourage a wealth of translatable language in a real wealth of thought, which will allow children to learn more about the reality that surrounds us and that which is within us, getting their minds used to see beyond what there is, without stopping at the surface.
What will we work on?
The goal is to make children able to express their ideas, opinions and thoughts, verbalizing creative solutions to the problems that will arise to their attention, relying on a well-coached imaginative power.
How does it work?
“Filosofia coi Bambini” method act through mental training sessions and philosophical workshops of one hour each, once a week.
Starting from carefully crafted inputs and presented at the beginning or during the training or workshop, children are placed in contact with experiences useful to generate awe, wonder and to start the imaginative, creative and cognitive mechanism; all is condensed in the form of concrete objects (spoons, animals, fruits, vegetables, etc.), drawings and questions, through which they train the imagination, mental plasticity and the natural disposition of children to counterfactual thinking, considering these faculties as central and indispensable for human development.
