Founded in 2015 by five artists from Porto, Portugal, Openfield aims to explore the powerful combination of art and technology to offer innovative and engaging experiences. To date, the Openfield team has met to create a wide range of interactive, performance and multimedia works that have helped shape the way in which the public perceives artistic experiences in both public and private spaces.
The LUCITY project has been funded by the Creative Europe program and involves four international organizations from Slovenia, Portugal, Italy and England. These are workshops aimed at lighting installations - produced by local communities that work with local and international artists - aimed at enhancing public spaces.
In our case, the participants will work with a Portuguese collective - Open Field - at a light installation applied to the large Circle that stands on the terrace of Officina degli Esordi, the urban laboratory of the Libertà neighborhood, in Bari.
In this workshop the students will learn how to build and control the luminous structures with LED strips (of a single color, white). The workshop will present an introduction on Arduino and electronics (welding cables and LED strips, flashing LEDs, etc.). It will then focus on controlling LEDs via software (Max). Eventually we will build a collaborative luminous work, whose theme will be decided together during the first day of activity.
During the first three days (27-28-29) we will work on the light installation. The last day (30) is dedicated to the return and final presentation. The topics addressed will be:
☛ Basic elements of electronics and Arduino;
☛ Control of LED strips with Arduino;
☛ Check Arduino with MAXUINO;
☛ Design sequences of lights.
Il progetto LUCITY è cofinanziato dal programma Europa creativa dell'Unione Europea
